The tastemakers salon

May 3, 2026

This spring marks the opening of The Carswell House as a dedicated setting for photography and creative work. To commemorate the season, we will host a small Creative Salon on May 3 — an invitation-led afternoon designed for photographers, filmmakers, artists, and visual tastemakers to experience the property in its natural state.

The intention of the Salon is simple: to gather a thoughtful group of creatives who appreciate atmosphere, architecture, and the quiet study of light. Guests will have the opportunity to move through the house, observe the interiors, photograph the rooms, and connect with fellow artists within an environment that encourages conversation and discovery.

Rather than a large event, the Salon will unfold slowly across the afternoon through a series of rotating cohorts. This structure allows each group time within the interiors while preserving the quiet character of the house.

The event will run for approximately four hours, with guests arriving in four small cohorts throughout the afternoon. Each cohort will spend approximately forty-five to sixty minutes inside the house before rotating to allow the next group entry. Cohort sizes will remain intentionally small, generally six to eight guests per rotation, resulting in a total gathering of approximately twenty-two to thirty-two attendees over the course of the afternoon.

Guests are welcome to bring cameras or video equipment should they wish to photograph the interiors during their visit. Light refreshments and small plates will be served throughout the afternoon.

Who the Salon is Intended For

The Creative Salon is designed for photographers and visual creatives whose work is rooted in atmosphere, storytelling, and editorial imagery. This may include bridal photographers, fashion photographers, portrait artists, filmmakers, stylists, and other creative tastemakers who appreciate historic spaces and cinematic interiors.

The goal of the gathering is not simply to tour the property, but to create an environment where thoughtful creatives can observe the house, exchange ideas, and connect with others working within similar visual disciplines.

Attendance is limited, and guest selection will be curated to ensure a balanced group of creatives.

Those wishing to be considered for the May 3 Salon are invited to submit the following information:

Admissions will remain open until April 15, after which the final guest list will be confirmed.

The Carswell House

The Carswell House is a historic Victorian property located in Renfrew, Ontario, offered on a limited basis for photography sessions and creative productions. With its preserved interiors, soft natural light, and surrounding grounds, the house provides a setting suited to editorial work, portrait photography, and cinematic storytelling.

The Creative Salon offers an opportunity to experience the property ahead of the season and to connect with a community of creatives who share an appreciation for visual storytelling and historic spaces.

We look forward to welcoming a small group of artists and photographers to the house this spring.
